Turns out Bradley Cooper is a decent human being who not only understands issues like sexism in Hollywood, but is willing to do his part to correct it.
In response to frequent movie co-star Jennifer Lawrence’s recent essay about the ridiculous wage gap between male and female actors, Cooper has promised to partner with co-stars moving forward when negotiating contracts for future films.
“I don’t know where it’s changing otherwise but that’s something that I could do,” Cooper said to Reuters, fully supporting and applauding Lawrence speaking out against sexism in Hollywood. The pair has starred in multiple projects together including Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Serena and the upcoming Joy.
“Usually you don’t talk about the financial stuff, you have people. But you know what? It’s time to start doing that,” he said.
The Sony hack exposed the wage gap when it was revealed that Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper made significantly more money making American Hustle than female counterparts Lawrence and Amy Adams, who was even nominated for an Academy Award for her role for the film. Outrageous.
In other news, Cooper is currently in talks with DreamWorks to provide his voice for a dog in A Dog’s Purpose, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie is based on the novel of the same name that came out back in 2010 that tells the story of a devoted dog on a mission to find his purpose in the lives of human loved ones. Relatable, right?
Of course, this isn’t the actors first time doing animal voicing as he once provided his human vocal instrument for superhero Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy.
As a dog, I am okay with this. I am comfortable with a decent human who understands sexism and works against it — narrating the inner thoughts of a fellow canine.
While I’d like to provide me entertainment news and insight, it’s time for my afternoon walk. Kisses.
