Cara Delevingne graces the latest cover of British Vogue but the most beautiful part of her collaboration with the magazine is the words she has for girlfriend St. Vincent. The model and the American musician have been dating since 2015 but generally keep their relationship private.
“I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days,” Delevingne told Vogue. “And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle.”
This is the first time Delevingne has publicly acknowledged the relationship.
“I’m completely in love… Before, I didn’t know what love was – real love. I didn’t understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that’s for yourself or for the world or your partner.”
It took the 23-year-old a while to be able to come to terms with her sexuality.
“It took me a long time to accept the idea [of being attracted to women], until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognized that I had to accept it,” she said. “Women are what completely inspire me, and they have also been my downfall. I have only been hurt by women, my mother first of all.”
Thankfully she has a great support system.
“As a child, I used gay as a bad world, as in, ‘that’s so gay.’ All my friends did. [My parents] have been so, so supportive. I’m obviously in love, so if people want to say I’m gay, that’s great. But we’re all liquid – we change, we grow.”
So what do we call these two? St. Delevingne? DeleVincent? Either way, we ship it.
