Friday follow: @themuslimfeminists break the stigma that Islam is oppressive

@themuslimfeministsInstagram’s @themuslimfeminists has only been around for nine months but has already surpassed 17,000 followers.

“Our fans really like our account and they’re glad to know that there’s a page like ours,” says Hasib who runs the account along with five other people.

“We started it so that we could break the stigma that Islam is an oppressive and terror filled religion. We wanted to show our prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was in definition the first feminist. Because of him women got voting rights, inheritance rights, property rights, marital rights and many more in a land where these things weren’t heard of.”
