After news of their relationship broke in December, Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson have pretty much become the real-life version of Carol and Therese, you know, if the leading ladies from Carol had Twitter in the 1950s.
The adorable couple are always being lovey-dovey on social media. Even when they’re apart, they manage to have adorable FaceTime sessions.
When they’re not FaceTiming, Taylor is gasping at her own Therese’s beauty. And don’t forget – Paulson was actually in Carol. The actress played Carol’s ex Abby who continued to pine for Cate Blanchett’s character after they broke up – something we hope the real life Carol and Therese don’t have to deal with.
Like Taylor, Paulson isn’t shy on social media. Whether she’s bragging about her girlfriend’s acting chops or admiring her from afar, The People v. O.J. Simpson actress always seems to have Taylor on her mind.
Of course, the major similarity between the fictional and real life characters is the age difference. Carol and Therese had an 11 year age difference, and Taylor and Paulson have 31 years between them. In the movie, the characters age difference presented some challenges (Therese was generally unsure of herself) but the age disparity IRL doesn’t seem to be much of an issue.
“I’m sure [that] shocks a lot of people, and it startles me,” Taylor told WNYC last year. “But you know, it’s not a statement original to me – I’ve heard it as a joke once in my past, but as they say, ‘If she dies, she dies’… She thought it was funny when I said it too.”
What’s important though is that Taylor says Paulson is “the most wonderful, extraordinary thing that could have ever possibly happened in my life.”
We ship it.
