Sarah Michelle Gellar got her nostalgia on today and posted a heartfelt #ThrowBackThursday to the very first episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer that aired 19 years ago tonight.
The actress, 38, became a household name after that fateful night. Buffy went on to become a cult television classic and brought a dedicated fanbase seven full seasons of the show. Creator Joss Whedon did well with sustaining a good television series for its entire run — offering audiences a new exciting ‘big bad’ each season.
Between converting vengeance demons to humans, slaying vampires and saving the world, Buffy offered viewers the funny. Never forget, Buffy was a show featuring a strong female lead in the 90s — proving that audiences were interested in female storylines even 20 years ago.
Good news for Gellar fans though — you’ll be able to see her reprising her role as Kathryn Merteuil in NBC’s upcoming TV adaption of Cruel Intentions.
But if you were curious about that Instagram post (that she also posted to Facebook and Twitter), it’s here for your convenience!
