We cannot wait for Hidden Figures to hit theatres, especially after seeing the film’s first trailer! Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae and Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer all star in the movie based on Margot Lee Shetterly’s book “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race.”

Henson takes on the lead role of Katherine Johnson, a math genius who helps launch astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Monae plays Mary Jackson and Spencer plays Dorothy Vaughan, both of whom also work at NASA. The three African-American women face countless barriers at work –  from racist coworkers to the glass ceiling.

“If you were a white male, would you wish to be an engineer?” someone asks Monae’s Mary Jackson in the trailer.

“I wouldn’t have to, I’d already be one,” she responds.

The film, which also stars Kirsten Dunst and Jim Parsons and is directed by Ted Melfi , opens on January 13, 2017.
