The top 2016 Best Picture nominees plus the greatest winners from past Oscars

oscars 2016 best picture revenant room spotlightThe countdown is on to the 2016 Oscars and critics just can’t agree on who is a shoo-in for Best Picture.

The Revenant has been a fan favourite for a while now and everyone wants Leonardo DiCaprio to win for Best Actor. Room’s Brie Larson is the frontrunner for Best Actress, but the film is the dark horse in the Best Picture category and Spotlight has done well in the awards circuit, having won the SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max, and The Martian are all up for the main prize too, but let’s be honest, it’s unlikely any of them will win.

Our pick for Best Picture is Beasts of No Nation. Oh wait, it wasn’t nominated because #OscarsSoWhite. Then we’ll go for Carol. Wait, no because #OscarsSoStraight. In that case, we’ll put our money on Room.

It will fit right in with the 10 greatest Best Picture winners from 1939 to today (sadly, almost all white).
