While we know super quotable 80’s teen hit movie Heathers is getting a reboot thanks to TV Land — it’s exciting to know that original Heathers‘ star Shannen Doherty will be involved with the project.
TV queen actress Doherty, currently battling breast cancer, offered her Instagram followers a sneak peek of the Heathers reboot set.
The wave of nostalgia we’re all feeling is very real.
Before she dominated the television world with her role as Brenda Walsh, Doherty was an original cast member in the 1988 feature film when she brought to life Heather Duke on screen.
TV Land’s new series will be dark comedy anthology that will bring us a new set of modern day Heathers.
But get excited because diversity will be a thing too — one of the new Heathers will be played by Jasmine Mathews — and she’ll be a black lesbian. Another Heather will identify as gender-queer. It’ll be interesting to see how this new show will handle the representation. Of course, this is a dark comedy — so it’s hard to say how it’ll all go down.
Ah, Heathers — the original Mean Girls.
What’s your damage, Heather?
